My story

My deep fascination with old things once led me to a thrift store, where I stumbled upon a treasure trove of vintage knitting patterns. As a self-proclaimed history nerd, I discovered a world full of history, techniques, and methods. Little did I know what was about to unfold or where this would take me. Now, more than 20 years later, I’m still studying the craft and art of knitting.

Why I teach?

I strongly believe that much of the knowledge I possess must be shared before it’s too late. Many knitting techniques and methods are on the verge of being forgotten. I’m passionate about helping others acquire the same knowledge I have.

But first, we need to start by valuing the craft—both as artists and as consumers. Knitting is not a mass-produced commodity like a pair of sneakers on sale. Knitting is creativity and craftsmanship, and it should be appreciated as such.

I am more than a little passionate about knitting and knitting history. Because of this, I started *Koftegruppa* (The Cardigan Group) in November 2013. Norway has a rich and diverse knitting tradition that needs to be brought to light and preserved.

I create trendy knits with a twist of vintage and tradition.

I’m a big fan of cuts and patterns from before the 1980s. Designing my own patterns is an incredibly exciting process—a journey where there’s always something new to learn, and you never truly master it all. I’m inspired by nature and love playing with colors, which is evident in my designs. Alongside yarn dyeing, designing, and knitting history, I work with courses and memberships where you can benefit from all my knowledge and experience.

I’ve published four books: *Koftefest*, *Kofter i tiden*, *Sagakofter*, and *Kofteglede*. I also contributed to translating the book *Handbook of Top-Down Knitting*.

Since fall 2020, I’ve had a dream of taking my business to the next level. I’m passionate about sharing what I’ve learned, and now I aim to do so through lectures and courses.

In addition, I’ve realized another dream—dyeing my own yarn, which allows me to fully embrace my creative side through color experimentation.

My values

Security, quality, and expertise are powerful words that anyone working in a craft should embody. You need to feel confident in your skills, ensure that what you create is of high quality, and have a solid foundation of expertise. These are all qualities I help you achieve through memberships, courses, workshops, coaching, and lectures.
